Burton hope to have Damien McCrory and Stuart Beavon back in contention as they look to get their Sky Bet League 1 title challenge back on track at home to play-off chasing Barnsley.

Left-back McCrory and striker Beavon both missed the defeat at Scunthorpe with hamstring and leg injuries respectively but Brewers boss Nigel Clough, who has seen his team surrender top spot to Wigan during their current four-game winless run, has his fingers crossed the duo will be available on Saturday.

On-loan Leicester teenager Hamza Choudhury is definitely back in the reckoning after serving his one-match suspension while Clough's midfield options are boosted further after recalling Matty Palmer from his loan spell at Oldham.

Phil Edwards has continued to play in recent weeks despite needing antibiotics for a virus and he is likely to do so again at right-back.

Barnsley will be without midfielder James Bree.

Bree suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury in the first half of Tuesday's 2-1 win over Oldham and will miss the trip to the Pirelli Stadium.

Adam Hammill finished the game at Oakwell in midweek limping but boss Paul Heckingbottom has revealed that it was a bout of cramp and the influential winger will be available.

Heckingbottom is keen on keeping changes down to a minimum as his side aim to close the gap on the top six, with the Tykes currently sat three points shy of Gillingham.
