Bury and Burton not able to break stalemate

Burton played out their first 0-0 draw as a Football League club to deny Bury their sixth away win of the campaign. Neither goalkeeper was seriously tested in a first half dominated by two well-drilled defences. Bury's only opening came in the 16th minute but skipper Stephen Dawson's rising drive from the edge of the area flew straight into the hands of Artur Krysiak. Burton had the one real chance to break the stalemate before the interval but it was wasted by the recalled Shaun Harrad. Richard Walker's shot was only partially saved by Wayne Brown and Harrad blazed the loose ball too high from inside the six-yard box. The visitors looked the more threatening team after the break and went close to taking the lead when Ryan Lowe's superb 18-yard volley thumped against Krysiak's crossbar in the 63rd minute. The Shakers lost classy defender Efe Sodje with an injury in the 73rd minute but still kept a tight rein on the Burton attack. Their only scare came in the 83rd minute when Brown reacted superbly to tip over a Harrad shot following a goalmouth scramble.
