Burton maintained their unbeaten home record but had to settle for a point after Luke Murphy rescued a draw for Crewe.

Burton dominated the first half and it was a surprise they had to wait until the 44th minute for Jacques Maghoma's goal. The former Tottenham youngster pounced on an opening made by Richard Walker to smash a 20-yard shot into the top corner. Before that Crewe were hard pressed to survive waves of pressure from the home side. Walker looked certain to put the home side in front in the 15th minute but his close-range shot was deflected wide after full-back Aaron Webster's shot had been spilled by Alex keeper Rhys Taylor. Crewe had the ball in the net in the 40th minute but Joel Grant's header was ruled offside. Alex enjoyed more of the possession after the break and an improved display was rewarded when Luke Murphy made room to squeeze home a 15-yard shot in the 63rd minute. The visitors had a late chance to win the game but Clayton Donaldson was unable to find a way past home keeper Adam Legzdins.
