Burton v Middlesbrough preview

Image: Webster: Subbed on Monday

Team news for Saturday afternoon's FA Cup third-round clash between Burton and Middlesbrough at the Pirelli Stadium.

Aaron Webster will have to wait and see if he is considered for Burton. The midfielder was substituted just before half-time during the league defeat at Port Vale on Monday with a calf problem. Webster has been troubled by the injury since mid-December and was not risked from the start against Shrewsbury on New Year's Day. He returned to the starting line-up against Vale but boss Paul Peschisolido will need to be convinced of Webster's fitness before deciding on his side for the third round tie. Defender Scott Malone is available after extending his loan spell from Wolves until the end of the season. Paul Boertien, Jimmy Phillips, Bryan Hughes, Greg Pearson and Shaun Harrad are options for Peschisolido should he wish to make changes. Middlesbrough midfielder Gary O'Neil will return to the squad for the game. O'Neil has missed the last two games through illness but resumed training on Thursday and is expected to be available for the game at the Pirelli Stadium. However, Kevin Thomson, who sat out Monday's 1-1 draw with Norwich after limping out of the New Year's Day fixture at Leeds with soreness in the leg he broke earlier in the season, remains a doubt. Jonathan Franks returned to action as a substitute against the Canaries following summer back surgery and having impressed manager Tony Mowbray in training, will hope for further action. But Stephen McManus (ankle ligaments), Willo Flood (knee), Rhys Williams (pelvis) and Matt Kilgallon (back) are still sidelined.
