Lenell John-Lewis came off the bench to give Bury a 1-0 win over Morecambe and keep the Shakers second in League Two.

Bury's top scorer Ryan Lowe had come into the game on a club-record run of scoring in nine consecutive games and although his streak finally came to an end, John-Lewis pounced in the 85th minute to secure a fourth straight win. The closest Lowe came to adding to his 24-goal tally was when he fired over from a tight angle early on. Morecambe replied with Chris McCready heading a Kevan Hurst free-kick straight at Cameron Belford. Morecambe keeper Joe Anyon, signed on loan from Lincoln on Monday to fill in for the injured Barry Roche, had to claw away Phil Picken's goalbound cross. Belford pulled off a fine point-blank save to deny McCready from Andy Fleming's corner before Danny Carlton almost caught Belford off his line as he sent a long-range effort narrowly over. But just six minutes after replacing Andy Bishop, John-Lewis hit a fierce 20-yard drive which squirmed under Anyon and over the line for just his second goal of the season.
