Carlisle v Hartlepool preview

Image: Murphy (c): Serves a one-match ban

Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Carlisle and Hartlepool at Brunton Park.

Carlisle will be without suspended pair Peter Murphy and James Berrett. Central defender Murphy and midfielder Berrett were sent off in the midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Accrington, both for two yellow card offences, and sit out respective one-game bans. Murphy's absence is offset by the return of Lubo Michalik while Paul Thirlwell is hoping for a recall in place of Berrett. Michalik was an unused substitute in both Slovakia's Euro 2012 qualifiers against Ireland and Armenia. Winger-turned-defender Matty Robson is expected to be back in contention to face his former club following a groin injury and versatile midfielder Tom Taiwo, Jon-Paul McGovern and striker Rory Loy are pushing for recalls to the starting line-up after stepping off the bench at Accrington. Hartlepool captain Sam Collins is hoping to return to the starting line-up. Central defender Collins has missed the last two games with a hamstring strain but this week returned to full training and is expected to be in contention. Pools drafted in former Coventry defender Stephen Wright on a short-term deal last week and he made a solid debut in Collins' absence in the win over Exeter, so manager Mick Wadsworth could have several options. Left-back Evan Horwood missed his first game of the season last weekend and is struggling to recover in time to face his former club. Wadsworth has no new injury or suspension problems as Pools look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
