Carlisle could be boosted by the return of Danny Grainger for the Sky Bet League Two game against Newport as they look to end a run of five home games without scoring.
Grainger was on the bench last time out but did not feature having trained for just three days, but he could well come in for Saturday's match.
The Cumbrians will also be without fellow defender Tom Parkes after he pulled a hamstring and will not feature for at least three weeks, according to assistant manager Tommy Wright. Striker Hallam Hope looks set to miss the next match despite ongoing treatment.
Newport could be without seven players for the trip after three players went off injured against Morecambe. Mark O'Brien, Scot Bennett and Jamille Matt all came off against the Shrimps and although they have not yet been ruled out, manager Mike Flynn said it may be too soon for the trio.
Flynn added there will be last-minute decisions on two players, and Fraser Franks will miss the match as he serves the last game of his three-match suspension. Long-term absentee Andrew Crofts has been responding well to treatment on his Achilles and could return soon, but not this weekend.
Carlisle have won just one of their last eight league games against Newport (D2 L5), a 2-1 victory in April 2017.
Newport are without a win in their last three league encounters with Carlisle (D2 L1), this after winning five successive games between November 2014 and November 2016.
Carlisle have lost five consecutive home league games without scoring - only once previously have they lost six consecutive home league matches in the top four tiers of English football (between September and November 2003).
Newport have scored in each of their last eight League Two matches since a 0-6 home defeat against Yeovil back in September (W3 D4 L1).
Ashley Nadesan has scored six of Carlisle's last 10 League Two goals and each of their last three.
