    Charlton v Bournemouth preview

Image: Francis: Set for Charlton debut

Charlton will field a new-look side at home to Bournemouth, who have just one fit striker.

Changes aplenty for Addicks, striker worries for Cherries

Charlton manager Phil Parkinson will field a new-look side in their opening match of the season at home to Bournemouth. Miguel Llera is suspended and Kelly Youga (knee) is still injured so summer signings Gary Doherty, Simon Francis and Johnnie Jackson will line up alongside Christian Dailly in the back four. Alan McCormack starts in midfield following his switch from Southend while Pawel Abbott, the new signing from Oldham, is set for his debut in attack. Winger Kyel Reid and striker Akpo Sodje should also start after making their loan deals permanent over the summer. Rob Elliot will reclaim his place in goal after Darren Randolph left to join Motherwell. West Ham loanee Matt Fry, youngster Yado Mambo and goalkeeper Ross Worner, signed from Woking, will be on the bench.

    Bournemouth news

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is facing up to the prospect of having just one fit striker available. The Cherries travel to the Addicks following their promotion from League Two with their attacking ranks seriously depleted by injury. Summer recruit Michael Symes (groin) is struggling to be fit, while veteran Steve Fletcher and Steve Lovell will both be missing. Fletcher is out for a month, while Lovell suffered a relapse in his recovery from a long-standing ankle problem, ruling him out for two months. That means Brett Pitman is likely to play as a lone forward but Howe may draft in 16-year-old apprentice Jayden Stockley. Midfielders Marc Pugh and Harry Arter are both vying to make their debuts in midfield.
