Yates takes charge of Robins for first time

Bournemouth will look to close the gap on leaders Rochdale with three points at struggling Cheltenham. The Cherries lost ground on Dale last weekend and slipped seven points behind their rivals, although they do possess a game in hand, when they fell 5-0 at Morecambe. Eddie Howe's side will be desperate to put that result behind them as soon as possible and heap more misery on Cheltenham. The Robins sit 21st in League Two, just three points off the relegation places and new manager Mark Yates will be hoping his appointment has an instant effect on his players.

    Robins news

Yates was appointed as the club's new manager on Tuesday with John Schofield, who spent nine games at the helm while Martin Allen was on gardening leave, now reverting back to assistant. But the former Kidderminster boss could not have been given a much harder task on his return to the club he spent five years with as a player between 1999 and 2004. The postponement of last Saturday's home clash against Burton has at least allowed defenders Lee Ridley and Michael Townsend extra time to fully recover from their calf injuries. But veteran striker Julian Alsop is rated as 50/50 as he struggles to get over a knock. Captain Shane Duff continues his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury but he is not expected back for some time yet.
    Cherries news
Goalkeeper Shwan Jalal and midfielder Anton Robinson are set to prove their fitness ahead of match. The pair were doubtful for Monday night's game with Notts County with calf and back injuries respectively, but the game was postponed due to adverse weather conditions giving them more time to recover. If Jalal does not play, then teenager Dan Thomas will start as Marek Stech has returned to West Ham. Mark Molesley is out with a foot injury and could miss the rest of the season, but fellow long-term absentee Scott Guyett (knee) could return to the squad for the first time in three months. Sammy Igoe has overcome a nagging knee injury and should be involved, while captain Shaun Cooper (hip) will return in January.
