Colchester midfielder Doug Loft will miss the visit of Blackpool, with the midfielder being ruled out for up to three months with an Achilles injury.
Midfielder Craig Slater is available again after international duty with Scotland Under-21s, while Glen Kamara could make his debut having joined on loan from Arsenal.
Owen Garvan is not yet expected to feature as he continues to recover from a leg problem.
Left-back Matt Briggs remains sidelined following hip surgery.
Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer hopes to have a double boost with his attacking options.
Danny Philliskirk has not played since the opening weekend due to an ankle injury but a full week of training has raised hopes that he will be involved.
Jamille Matt, who has been out for almost as long, is another who could be part of Bowyer's squad having been scheduled to return to training on Friday following a knee problem.
However, Bowyer will continue to be without Mark Cullen (hamstring) and Jack Redshaw (shin splints).
