Colchester were still left looking for their first win since their move to the Weston Homes Community Stadium after Bristol Rovers registered a 1-0 victory.
Rickie Lambert's ninth goal of the season left managerless Colchester still without a first victory at their new home.
Lambert rose above Paul Reid to head home skipper Stuart Campbell's corner just seven minutes after the break.
Earlier, Rovers had almost stolen a half-time lead when Chris Lines' close-range header was tipped expertly onto the crossbar by Colchester goalkeeper Dean Gerken.
The Pirates started the second half well and Gerken had to be at his best to save at full-stretch from Lambert.
And it was the same combination that Rovers profited from a minute later when Lambert headed in. Matt Heath hooked over from a corner for
Colchester as the home side pressed for an equaliser. But it was to no avail as they suffered a third straight defeat at their new home.
