Nouble missed the last three games through suspension after he was sent off in a 3-0 defeat to Forest Green on March 12.
Midfielder Harry Pell has been ruled out for the rest of Colchester's League Two campaign following a recurrence of a hamstring injury sustained in February. Rene Gilmartin and Tom Eastman could feature after both returned to the squad against Cambridge following respective knee and calf injuries.
On-loan Oladapo Afolayan could make his return to the Oldham side. The forward is back in training and was declared fully fit by head coach Pete Wild ahead of Saturday's game.
Manchester United loanee Zak Dearnley remains unavailable for Latics after sustaining a few knocks recently.
Colchester are without a win in four home league games against Oldham (D2 L2), having won each of the three before this between February 2010 and August 2011.
Four of the last five league meetings between Colchester and Oldham have been draws by different scorelines (one Oldham win), 2-2 in August 2014, 0-0 in August 2015, 1-1 in January 2016 and 3-3 in September 2018.
Colchester have failed to score in four of their last six league games (W2 L4), having found the back of the net in eight consecutive League Two matches prior to this run.
Oldham have won their last two league games, last winning three in a row in October 2017.
Oldham's Callum Lang has scored six goals in his last eight league appearances, netting each of the Latics' last three goals in League Two.
