Tom Bayliss will be assessed ahead of Coventry's Sky Bet League One clash at home to third-placed Sunderland on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Football from 12pm.
Bayliss missed last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers having taken a kick to his ankle in training on the Thursday prior to the game. Boss Mark Robins is confident the teenage midfielder will soon be back in action.
Jodi Jones made a long-awaited return to action this week, playing almost 90 minutes of an U23 game against Ipswich after 10 months out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Jack Grimmer (calf) will not be available until next month, Brandon Mason remains sidelined with a hip flexor problem and Maxime Biamou is a long-term absentee.
Sunderland midfielder Max Power will be available on his return from suspension. Power was sent off 19 minutes into the 1-1 draw with Oxford on September 1 and has missed league games against Fleetwood, Burton and Rochdale as a result.
Defender Tom Flanagan will hope to retain his place after making a first league start for the Black Cats in last Saturday's 4-1 victory over Rochdale, although Bryan Oviedo and Adam Matthews are pushing for returns.
However, striker Charlie Wyke is a long-term absentee as he continues his recovery from knee ligament damage, while Duncan Watmore is closing in on a return from a similar, if more serious, injury suffered in November last year and Donald Love (ankle) is still out.
Coventry have won four of their last five home league games against Sunderland (D1), although this will be their first meeting since August 2006.
Sunderland have only ever kept two clean sheets in 20 visits to Coventry City in all competitions - a 1-0 win in April 1985 and a 0-0 draw in February 1991.
Sunderland's 19-year-old striker Josh Maja has scored seven league goals this season - more than any other teenager in the top four tiers of English football.
Sunderland have won five league matches out of nine games this season - last season, they won just five of their opening 38 league games.
Coventry's Luke Thomas has had more shots without scoring than any other League One player this season (25).
These two were two divisions apart last season but now find themselves battling it out in Sky Bet League One.
Both will be satisfied enough with their starts to the season, Coventry in terms of consolidation and Sunderland in their attempts to recover from back-to-back relegations. This is a draw for me.
David Prutton predicts: 2-2 with Conor Chaplin to score first (80/1 with Sky Bet)
