McCready a doubt and Ricketts remains suspended

Crewe centre-back Chris McCready is a doubt for the visit of Walsall in League One. The defender suffered a hamstring injury in the defeat at Carlisle, where he was replaced late in the game by George Abbey. And Abbey and Daniel O'Donnell are on stand-by should McCready not recover in time. Right-back Danny Woodards is expected to be fit after he also tweaked his hamstring at Brunton Park, while Calvin Zola could return from an ankle problem. New signing Clayton Donaldson could be in line for his debut after completing his move from Scottish Premier League club Hibernian. Eugen Bopp is not expected to be fit as he continues to recover from the abductor strain he suffered against Brighton on the opening day of the season.

Walsall news

Walsall manager Jimmy Mullen will again be without former England striker Michael Ricketts for the trip to Gresty Road. The forward sits out the second game of a three-match ban following his red card against Darlington in the Carling Cup, so man of the moment Jabo Ibhere will partner Alex Nicholls in attack. Ibhere has scored late goals in both League One games so far since his summer move from Leyton Orient. Midfielder Mark Bradley will again be involved after he played the final 30 minutes of Wales Under 21s' defeat to Romania in midweek. Dwayne Mattis is closing in on a return to first-team action after a knee injury, while Stephen Roberts is expected to overcome a calf injury.
