Phil Jevons' second-half penalty rescued a 1-1 draw for Morecambe and ended Dagenham's 100% home record.
Jevons converted a 56th-minute spot-kick after goalkeeper Tony Roberts brought down Stewart Drummond with his trailing leg.
The hosts had taken the lead just before half-time when striker Josh Scott slammed a shot into the bottom corner after good work from Paul Benson.
Dagenham had enjoyed the better chances in the opening period with Danny Spiller blasting wide and Stuart Thurgood heading straight at Barry Roche.
In the second half Scott almost notched his second, but curled just wide, while Danny Green also tested Roche at his near post.
Leading scorer Benson should have won the game for Daggers in injury time, but his turn and shot in the area was narrowly wide, and then when put clean through in the last minute he put his shot too close to Roche.
