Clarence Seedorf could not inspire Deportivo to a rare victory as he took charge of the struggling side for the first time in a 1-0 loss to Real Betis.

Seedorf replaced fired former boss Cristobal Parralo until the end of the season last week, and said he was "convinced things had changed" despite a fourth defeat from six.

Lorenzo Moron's third goal in two games for Betis took them eighth in La Liga while Deportivo, without a win since December 9, are still three points from safety.

They rallied after going behind and striker Florin Andone hit the post before firing just wide late on. Celso Borges also came agonisingly close to scoring for the home side, but they could not avert Seedorf's first game ending in defeat.

Moron, who only made his debut on February 3, scored the only goal of the game when he slid in to meet a low cross nine minutes after the break, and scuffed it into the net off the foot of hapless Depor goalkeeper Ruben Martinez.
