Highlights of Derby's 1-1 draw with Charlton from the iPro stadium.

Promotion favourites Derby endured a frustrating end to a disappointing week when they were held to a 1-1 Sky Bet Championship draw at home by a hard-working Charlton.

Derby were looking to bounce back from the League Cup exit to Portsmouth but they fell behind to a Tony Watt strike in the 48th minute despite enjoying long periods of possession and although Chris Martin equalised in the 68th minute, they could not force a winner.

Rams head coach Paul Clement switched to a 4-3-3 formation for his first home game with 19-year-old Jamie Hanson coming into central midfield for his third senior appearance while Charlton made two changes to the team that beat QPR on the opening day.

Charlton lost twice at the iPro Stadium last season but they almost stunned Derby inside the first minute when Cristian Ceballos found space on the edge of the box but lifted his shot over.

Derby took time to find some rhythm but a slick exchange of passes between Hanson and Martin set up Jeff Hendrick in the 12th minute only for his shot to be blocked and Johnny Russell could not quite bring a Craig Forsyth cross under control five minutes later.

Martin had a great chance in the 21st minute when Tom Ince picked him out but the Scotland international rolled a shot wide from 12 yards and, although Derby were dominating, Charlton almost surprised them in the 32nd minute when Ceballos got in front of Chris Baird at the back post, Scott Carson making the vital block.

It was a reminder that for all Derby's possession, the game was still in the balance and Charlton made the first move to win it when they scored three minutes into the second half.

Watt ran at the defence before firing in a 25-yard shot that took a deflection off Richard Keogh on its way to the top right corner with Carson stranded.

Derby needed to respond quickly and they almost equalised in the 55th minute when Ince played Hendrick in on the left but although his low shot beat Nick Pope, Patrick Bauer cleared off the line.

Charlton should have scored a second in the 66th minute when Watt broke on the right and found Simon Makienok 12 yards out. He shot straight at Carson though and two minutes later Derby were level.

Hanson played the ball into Martin just inside the area and he turned to fire a low shot past the outstretched hand of Pope and inside his right-hand post.

Pope had to claw away a George Thorne shot and earned his side a deserved point when he tipped over a Martin header deep in stoppage time.

Derby County manager Paul Clement:

"I'm disappointed not to take all three points because I thought we created enough chances and controlled enough of the possession to deserve a little bit more. Their goal has come from a big slice of luck but I'm pleased with the performance and there were lots of positives and some very good individual performances as well."

Charlton Athletic manager Guy Luzon:

"Six months ago we played here and didn't touch the ball and Derby scored two goals in the first 30 minutes and we were out of the game. So it was very important for me that we showed progress and that we are developing as a team. I think we showed a lot of quality and organisation in the defensive side."
