Toffees looking to get points on the board

Everton will be looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat at Blackburn with three points against Wolves at Goodison Park. The Toffees produced a below-par display against Rovers last week and manager David Moyes is desperate to avoid a repeat of last season's poor start. An injury-hit Everton side struggled for form at the beginning of last season, before turning things round in the second half of the campaign. With UEFA Champions League qualification on the agenda, Moyes knows that his side must pick up points from home games if they are to edge city rivals Liverpool, big-spending Manchester City and Tottenham to reach Europe's premier club competition. Despite their opening day victory against Stoke, Wolves could be the ideal opponents for a Toffees side struggling for form. Mick McCarthy's men have only won four of their last 38 Premier League away encounters and their last win at Goodison Park came in 1979. History may not be on their side, but a good win against a tough Stoke side will have boosted their confidence. The last two games between these sides have ended level, a 1-1 draw at Everton followed by a goalless stalemate at Molineux.

Team news

Last weekend's victory against the Potters saw Steven Fletcher get off the mark for his new club and he will fancy his chances of adding to his tally, but the former Burnley man must shrug off a bruised foot to feature. Defender Jelle Van Damme is described by McCarthy as a "serious doubt" after twisting his ankle, Steven Mouyokolo may also miss the match with a damaged hamstring, while Dave Edwards is out with a groin injury. However, last season's top scorer Kevin Doyle is set to return from a calf injury which kept him out of the team's opening day win over Stoke. Moyes is expected to keep the same side that started at Blackburn, and will keep goalkeeper Tim Howard in the starting XI. Howard was at fault for Nikola Kalinic's decisive winner last week, but Moyes has kept faith with the United States goalkeeper. Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and Jack Rodwell will be pushing for starting roles after coming on as second-half substititutes last week.
