      Pools claim creditable point

Exeter stretched their unbeaten home run to seven games after a dour 0-0 draw with away-day specialists Hartlepool.

Pools midfielder Antony Sweeney came closest to breaking the deadlock when he burst on to a Luke James' pass, only to be denied by goalkeeper Artur Krysiak. But the Grecians wasted a glorious chance to snatch the points at the death when Troy Archibald-Henville headed straight at Scott Flinders from inside the six-yard box. Hartlepool had a goal disallowed for offside midway through the first half after Gary Liddle collected James' pass and slid the ball underneath Krysiak. Daniel Nardiello thought he had won a penalty for Exeter as he went down under Neil Austin's tackle, only for referee Mark Haywood to turn down appeals. Archibald-Henville squandered the best opportunity of the first half when he glanced a header wide after latching on to David Noble's corner. Flinders pulled off a stunning finger-tip save to foil Jake Taylor after the substitute let fly from 25 yards before Sweeney and Archibald-Henville were both thwarted.
