Trapattoni makes three changes to side

Republic of Ireland will be looking to regain some pride when they take on Faroe Islands in Torshavn. The Irish go into the game on the back of their humbling 6-1 defeat by Germany in Dublin on Friday to raise questions over the long-term future of Giovanni Trapattoni. Trapattoni has batted away talk over his position, saying he has no plans to step down from his role and that he is focused on guiding Ireland to the World Cup in Brazil. The mood inside the camp has not been helped by a reported bust-up between Stephen Kelly and Trapattoni's assistant Marco Tardelli. Trapattoni had to intervene and persuade Kelly to travel to Torshavn after he reportedly threatened not to board the flight. Kelly has again been left out of the starting line-up for the must-win game for the Republic with Trapattoni making three changes to the side that lost to Germany. Captain Robbie Keane returns to the starting line-up after missing the Germany game with an Achilles problem and he replaces Simon Cox. Manchester United youngster Robbie Brady starts alongside Keith Andrews, James McCarthy and Aiden McGeady in midfield after impressing on his debut against Oman last month with Keith Fahey dropping to the bench. Marc Wilson is drafted into the side and replaces Stephen Ward at left-back with Seamus Coleman, John O'Shea and Darren O'Dea making up the rest of the back four. Andy Keogh, who scored the Republic's only goal against Germany, is out of the match with concussion meaning Jon Walters will partner Keane in attack. Faroe Islands will be looking to pile the misery on the Republic after pushing Sweden all the way on Friday before going down 2-1. Coach Lars Olsen has no fresh injury concerns to deal with, meaning former Manchester City goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen will continue between the posts.
