Skipper Mark Roberts' bullet header 12 minutes from time secured Fleetwood a 1-1 draw against Peterborough.
With Sir Alex Ferguson watching on, neither team created a clear-cut chance in a tense opening 45 minutes. Marcus Maddison was closest with a shot that was tipped as a precaution round the post by Chris Maxwell. Fleetwood went closer when Nick Haughton slipped Gareth Evans through, the midfielder firing straight into the body of Scott Loach. But it was Posh who grabbed the lead in the 64th minute. Joe Newell capitalised on a period of pressure for the visitors, skipped past his man on the edge of the box and launched a superb curling effort into the top right-hand corner. The home side stepped up a gear, throwing debutant Ashley Hunter and experienced forward Stephen Dobbie into the mix. And it paid dividends when Conor McLaughlin broke down the right, turned his man and crossed for captain Roberts to head home. Hunter then skipped past Newell and delivered a cross that Jamie Proctor fired against the woodwork.
