Oldham ended a run of four successive defeats with a 1-0 victory at Hartlepool in League One on Tuesday evening.
Shorn of 11 players through injury, illness and suspension, the Latics ended their losing streak thanks to an early goal from Jean Yves M'Voto at Victoria Park. On eight minutes, right winger Chris Taylor floated a free-kick into the area and the ball bounced in off the big defender. Pools should have levelled eight minutes later when striker Ryan Noble, making his debut after signing on loan from Sunderland hours before the game, was played in on goal but he hesitated and keeper Alex Crisak was quickly off his line to block with his legs. Early in the second half Noble burst into the area and rolled the ball across goal and just ahead of the stretching Gary Liddle. Defender Peter Hartley went closest for Pools late on, his header from Evan Horwood's corner cleared off the line by Keiran Lee.
