Northampton notched up their second away win in League One with a 2-0 win over a disappointing Hereford at Edgar Street.
A 49th-minute goal for midfielder Danny Jackman put the Cobblers in front when he beat goalkeeper Matt Murray with a free-kick from 25 yards. And Ryan Gilligan snapped up the second in the 62nd minute when he beat Murray with a low shot from close range.
The visitors had the initiative in the early stages when striker Leon Constantine should have put them in front. Constantine rose high above the Hereford defence to meet a cross from Jackman but his powerful header cleared the crossbar.
Murray came to Hereford's rescue when he dived full length to punch clear a shot from Luke Guttridge.
Hereford however responded with Steve Guinan having a shot saved by Frank Fielding while Ben Smith sent a dipping shot inches wide of the upright.
Just before the break Constantine had another chance to put the Cobblers in front when he shot over from close range. But Northampton eventually took the lead when Jackman rifled his 25-yard free kick into the roof of the net.
Although Hereford tried to get back into contention Gilligan put the game out of reach.
