Huddersfield v MK Dons preview

Image: Tavernier: Set to make Dons debut

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Huddersfield and MK Dons at the Galpharm Stadium.

Kallum Higginbotham is poised to make his debut for Huddersfield following his deadline day transfer from Falkirk. Former Rochdale striker Higginbotham, signed for an undisclosed fee, could start alongside 29-goal Jordan Rhodes, in place of either Lee Novak or Alan Lee. Recent loan signing Sean Morrison, from Reading, is expected to continue alongside Jamie McCombe in central defence in his home debut after making his first appearance in last week's draw at Tranmere. Goalkeeper Alex Smithies is in contention for his comeback match following two knee operations which have kept him sidelined for the last 10 months, during which time Ian Bennett has been manager Lee Clark's first choice. Midfielder Scott Arfield and defender Calum Woods (both ankle) featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn in midweek and are hoping to return to the squad, but Gary Roberts remains sidelined following his hernia operation and fellow winger Danny Ward is struggling with a knock. James Tavernier could be in line to make his MK Dons debut. Tavernier, a right-back by trade but capable of playing at centre-half, has joined the Dons on loan from Newcastle for the remainder of the season after Adam Smith was recalled by Tottenham. Fellow deadline-day signing Paul Slane will not link up with Karl Robinson's side for another week as the midfielder continues to receive treatment for a back injury at parent club Celtic. Midfielder Darren Potter is fit again after recovering from illness while defender Mathias Kouo-Doumbe returns to contention following suspension. Adam Chicksen required nine stitches in a head injury sustained against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night but the defender should be available.
