Hearts missed out on an opportunity to go top of the Scottish Premiership table with a 2-0 defeat away at Inverness on Friday.

Second-half goals from James Vincent and debutant Miles Storey were enough to help the home side to their first league victory of the season.

The visitors finished the game with 10 men after defender Juwon Oshaniwa was sent off for an off-the-ball incident late on.

Both sides started slowly and it took until the 20th minute for the first shot to be registered - Alim Ozturk firing over for Hearts from 35 yards out.

Inverness almost took the lead 10 minutes later through Danny Williams, but the young winger dragged his shot wide after some good build up play by the hosts before referee Steven McLean then waved away a couple of half-hearted penalty appeals shortly before the sides headed in at half-time.

The deadlock was finally broken four minutes after the break, Vincent tapping in a Ryan Christie pull back from close range after Hearts failed to clear the ball.

Hearts were struggling to create any clear cut chances and hopes of an equaliser faded when Oshaniwa was shown a straight red five minutes from time for an off the ball incident involving Inverness midfielder Tobi Sho-Silva.

And the home side then doubled their lead on 90 minutes when Storey fired a powerful shot past Neil Alexander from inside the box to seal a much-needed win.

Inverness move up to seventh in the table following the victory. Hearts have now suffered back-to-back defeats after winning their opening five league games and remain in third.
