Juventus take on Zenit St Petersburg in what promises to be an absorbing UEFA Champions League encounter, live on Sky Sports Interactive.
Serie A side Juve are making their return to Europe's most prestigious competition after a two-year absence.
Demotion to Italy's second tier, promotion and then a third-placed top-flight finish later, head coach Claudio Ranieri is preparing his troops for Europe's main stage.
The former Chelsea boss said on Uefa's official website: "I am just as interested to see how we cope in the Champions League.
"It's been a long wait for some of these players but our determination and motivation are right.
"We have plenty of new players but we also have players with a wealth of experience at this level, players who have been an important part of the history of this club. They are more than ready."
Ranieri is set to deploy experienced striking duo Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet from the start against Zenit, with the pair boasting a combined tally of 65 Champions League goals in 130 games.
Giorgio Chiellini and Nicola Legrottaglie are expected to be available, but defender Jorge Andrade remains a long-term injury victim after undergoing knee surgery over the summer.
The Old Lady face a stringent test when they take on the current Uefa Cup, Russian Premier League and Uefa Super Cup holders.
Dick Advocaat's side boast a wealth of talent, and the Dutchman will be hopeful of claiming a memorable scalp at Stadio Olimpico in Turin.
Nicolas Lombaerts (knee), Roman Shirokov (calf) and Fatih Tekke (thigh) all look likely to miss out; however Advocaat is poised to hand starts to the much-coveted Andrei Arshavin and £24million signing Danny.
