Leicester City are hoping keeper David Martin is fit to face Southend United, who have several players returning.
Martin took a knock to the hip in last week's FA Cup win over Dagenham & Redbridge and will be given until the last minute to prove his fitness.
Fellow goalkeeper Paul Henderson remains sidelined with a groin problem, so Foxes boss Nigel Pearson will hope Martin is passed fit.
Midfielder Matt Oakley is expected to be involved after missig the Dagenham game with an ankle injury.
Defender Patrick Kisnorbo (knee) remains on track for a return in the New Year.
Southend boss Steve Tilson is boosted by the return of on-loan pair Dan Harding and Rob Milsom for the trip to the Walkers Stadium.
Harding and Milson were prevented from playing in the FA Cup tie against Luton last week, and the former could return at left-back, with the latter coming into central midfield.
Jean-Francois Christophe was due to play the last game of his loan spell against Leicester, but has returned to Portsmouth after suffering a hamstring injury.
Dougie Freedman and Lee Barnard resumed training this week after injury lay-offs, but Saturday's match could come too soon for the striking duo.
Paul Furlong is struggling with a thigh problem and Alex Revell is recovering from a chest infection, but on-loan pair Liam Feeney and Junior Stanislas could make their Football League bows for Southend.
