Leyton Orient slipped to a 2-1 home defeat to Cheltenham as Adam Boyd could only net a consolation.

Penalty not enough to save Orient

Adam Boyd found the net from the penalty spot but was unable to prevent Leyton Orient slipping to a 2-1 home defeat to Cheltenham. The visitors were ahead courtesy of a fourth-minute goal from veteran striker Barry Hayles, who gathered the ball just outside the penalty area and shot low past Orient goalkeeper Glenn Morris. Orient equalised when Town skipper Drissa Diallo's rash tackle on midfielder Dean Morgan resulted in a penalty which Boyd decisively converted in the 33rd minute. Cheltenham were reduced to 10 men after 72 minutes when midfielder Ashley Vincent earned a second yellow card and was sent off. But six minutes later Cheltenham regained the lead through Ian Westlake's drive from the edge of the area. Orient almost drew level again but headers from Adam Chambers and Boyd both hit the bar as the hosts' seven-game unbeaten run came to an end.
