Leyton Orient marked the unveiling of the Justin Edinburgh Stand with a much-needed 2-1 Sky Bet League Two win over Newport, ending a run of nine home games without victory in all competitions.
The new stand name commemorates the hosts' former manager, who died in June shortly after guiding the O's back to the English Football League.
Newport goalkeeper Tom King was the star of the show in the first half, keeping out an acrobatic effort from Ouss Cisse and two testing strikes from Jordan Maguire-Drew.
The home faithful were getting increasingly frustrated with their team's reluctance to shoot, but they finally broke the deadlock after 81 minutes when James Brophy's corner to the back post was headed in by Marvin Ekpiteta off the unlucky Ryan Haynes.
Orient then doubled their advantage with one minute remaining as Josh Wright saw his measured cross converted by Ruel Sotiriou.
Jamille Matt's close-range header from Robbie Willmott's floated free-kick reduced the deficit five minutes into added time.
There was still time for Newport to win a corner in the dying stages, but Ross Embleton's men held on for a priceless three points.
