Swindon secure confidence-boosting success

Lee Peacock scored after just 43 seconds as Swindon recorded a 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road. The game was David Byrne's last in caretaker charge of the Robins following the appointment of Danny Wilson and the Swindon players responded with an impressive performance. The visitors opened the scoring when Peacock latched onto Jon-Paul McGovern's left-wing cross and fired a fierce drive past home goalkeeper Glenn Morris. Orient struggled to get their game together and it took a full stretch save by Morris to prevent striker Simon Cox extending Swindon's lead during a lacklustre first half. Jack Smith eventually doubled the Robins' advantage from the penalty spot on the hour mark after Alton Thelwell had been penalised for handball. In a rare spell of Orient pressure centre-back Tamika Mkandawire reduced the arrears with a 79th minute header. The hosts raised their game late on but rarely looked like avoiding a sixth home defeat of the season until striker Adam Boyd forced a crucial save from keeper Peter Brezovan in added time.
