Ferguson in 'torment', Strachan seeking Snow White

Gordon Strachan will be hoping to give his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson a grim night as Celtic chase a fairytale win at Manchester United. Celtic have yet to win an away game in the UEFA Champions League and their latest attempt takes them to the home of the current holders. Bhoys boss Strachan has threatened to summon Snow White to lead his team out at Old Trafford after conceding his team may be dwarfed by United. Strachan is without a string of players who boast a physical presence for a game Celtic cannot afford to lose, if they are to keep alive their prospects of reaching the knockout phase. United, in contrast, know victory on Tuesday night, coupled with avoiding defeat at Parkhead in the return meeting in a fortnight's time, could see them through to the last 16.

Torment

Ferguson heads into the game in 'torment' as he wrestles with the conundrum of trying to fit Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez into the same team. The trio have only started together once - on Berbatov's debut in a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool - but Ferguson is considering unleashing the trio on Celtic. Cristiano Ronaldo may be given a rest by Ferguson after his recent return from an ankle injury, and that could see Nani restored to the starting line-up. Anderson is due to return to central midfield alongside Darren Fletcher, with Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Owen Hargreaves all sidelined. Patrice Evra is out with a hamstring strain, so John O'Shea is likely to start at left-back, although Jonny Evans is also an option for Ferguson.
Striker troubles
Celtic have yet to score in the Champions League this season after following up a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to AaB Aalborg with a 1-0 defeat at Villarreal. The SPL champions' prospects of breaking their duck have been hit hard by injuries to Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Chris Killen and Georgios Samaras. Scott McDonald will spearhead the Celtic attack in the absence of those three strikers, and will be supported by the diminutive presence of Aiden McGeady, Shaun Maloney and Shunsuke Nakamura, who scored in both games between the teams two seasons ago. Strachan is also sweating on the fitness of Gary Caldwell, who suffered an ankle injury in Saturday's 2-1 win at Inverness. Caldwell will be given every chance to prove his fitness, with Mark Wilson on stand-by to come into the team, while Spanish midfielder Marc Crosas is out.
