MK Dons are expected to start Kieran Agard when they host Stevenage on Saturday.
He came off the bench with them 3-0 down in Tuesday's defeat at Morecambe to almost inspire a comeback, scoring twice before their eventual 4-2 defeat.
Fellow substitutes Stephen Walker and Robbie Simpson are also pushing to start. Mathieu Baudry, Baily Cargill, Jordan Moore-Taylor and George Williams are all expected to again miss out, owing to injury.
Stevenage's Mark McKee could be in contention to start should manager Dino Maamria wish to make changes to a winning team. On Tuesday they won 2-0 at home to Swindon, but McKee continued his return from a five-month absence with another substitute appearance.
The on-loan Jordan Gibson is also pushing to start, having also made an impact as a substitute. Danny Newton and Jamal Campbell-Ryce could again miss out through injury.
There has never been a draw between MK Dons and Stevenage in the EFL, with the Dons winning four to the Boro's three of the previous seven such meetings.
Stevenage are aiming to do the double over MK Dons for the first time in the Football League having won the reverse meeting 3-2 in November 2018 - a result which ended a three-game losing streak against the Dons in the league.
Milton Keynes haven't drawn a league game at Stadium MK since September, winning 10 and losing three matches since.
Stevenage have only won once in their last six League Two away trips (D2 L3), a 2-1 victory against Morecambe in January.
Stevenage have scored 17 headed goals in League Two this season; three more than any other side in the division.
