Shrimps to check on Hackney as Crewe call on Tootle

Morecambe will make a late check on Simon Hackney while Crewe Alexandra can call on Matt Tootle on Good Friday. On-loan Colchester winger Hackney sustained a back injury in last weekend's 2-0 victory over Torquay on Saturday. Neil Wainwright and Wayne Curtis are possible replacements for the former Carlisle player if manager Sammy McIlroy decides against risking Hackney. Defender Will Haining is also likely to be missing with a groin injury that reduced him to the sidelines against Torquay, so Dave Artell looks set to deputise again. Striker Aaron Taylor, defender Henry McStay and midfielder Ian Craney remain long-term absentees but McIlroy has no other major concerns. The Shrimps are currently five points adrift of seventh spot with eight matches remaining as they bid to keep their play-off hopes alive.

Crewe news

Promising youngster Tootle will be available for Crewe's trip to Christie Park after making a swift recovery from an ankle injury. The left-back looked unlikely to feature after being forced off in the closing stages of last weekend's win at Port Vale, but it was not a recurrence of the problem that forced him to miss a couple of games in early February and he resumed training on Tuesday. Shaun Miller also had to come off at Vale Park but the striker had nothing more serious than cramp and will be involved. Boss Dario Gradi could be boosted by the return of leading scorer Calvin Zola. Hamstring and ankle injuries have restricted the 16-goal striker to just one substitute appearance in the last 10 matches. Centre-half Carl Martin is available again after suspension but Ashley Westwood serves the second game of a three-match ban. Defender Chris Stokes (hamstring) and midfielder Simon Walton (rib) remain in the sidelines.
