New York City FC booked their place in the Major League Soccer play-offs with a 2-0 win over Chicago Fire on Wednesday.
After a quiet first half at Yankee Stadium, the game came alive shortly after the break when Alexander Ring capped a fine passing move to score on 47 minutes.
David Villa doubled the lead four minutes later, the Spaniard finding himself in a perfect position when Maximiliano Moralez cut a cross back into the box.
The win, New York's first in seven matches, saw the home side book a place in the post-season for the third consecutive time, while Chicago's slim chances of qualifying from the Eastern Conference were put to bed.
