Tiote still missing for Magpies' Europa League tie

Newcastle's Europa League tie against Atromitos is finely poised at 1-1 ahead of Thursday's second leg at St James' Park. The Magpies came away from Greece with a draw after a trademark Ryan Taylor free-kick cancelled out Denis Epstein's opener. Alan Pardew was pleased with the performance if not the result and is confident of securing victory on home soil, although he has insisted Atromitos will not be underestimated. Pardew is likely to once again use the depth of his squad ahead of Sunday's league clash with Aston Villa, although he has indicated that 17-year-old frontman Adam Campbell is unlikely to make the 18.

    Ruled out

Newcastle had just 48 hours to prepare for the clash with Chelsea last weekend and lost 2-0, having started their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham. Cheick Tiote has not played since that win on the opening day of the season and will again miss out on Thursday with a damaged calf muscle. Shola Ameobi and Sammy Ameobi have also been ruled out with hamstring and knee problems respectively. Atromitos began the domestic Greek season with a 2-0 win at Kerkyra on Monday and will be looking to carry that form with them as they aim for a place in Friday's group stage draw.
