Harry McKirdy will be hoping he has done enough to play some part when Newport host promotion hopefuls Bury.
On-loan Aston Villa man McKirdy scored Newport's third goal in the 3-0 win against Cambridge on Saturday after coming off the bench in the 89th minute, and he could get more minutes on Friday.
Joss Labadie missed out last weekend after sustaining a gash to his ankle against Swindon and he will be checked. Newport have an outside chance of making the play-offs, sitting five points behind seventh-placed Exeter with five games still to play.
Danny Mayor returns to contention for high-flying Bury. Mayor served a three-match ban after seeing red in the 3-1 defeat against Swindon last month and is available for selection.
Dom Telford is likely to keep his place after he scored both of Bury's goals in their 2-0 win over Colchester on his return to the starting XI. Bury sit second in the table, two points above MK Dons in fourth.
Newport County have won just one of their last seven league meetings with Bury (D4 L2), beating them 3-1 away in November 2014.
Bury have only won one of their previous 11 away league games against Newport (D4 L6), though it was their last such visit there (2-0 in April 2015).
Newport are unbeaten in their last five games in League Two (W3 D2), keeping four clean sheets and conceding just once.
Bury lost their last away game (3-2 against Carlisle), having previously been on a run of eight games without defeat away from home (W5 D3). They last lost consecutive away games in League Two in December 2018.
Bury's Nicky Adams has provided more assists than any other player in League Two this season (13).
