Aston Villa captain Micah Richards says his team-mates will battle for Premier League survival 'until the end'.
Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at West Ham left Villa six points adrift at the foot of the table and 10 from survival with just 14 matches of the season remaining.
Despite losing striker Jordan Ayew to a red card after only 17 minutes at Upton Park, Richards believes the team showed they have the spirit for a survival battle.
"We have the fighting spirit," the former Manchester City defender told the club's official website. "We have 14 games now and we will give 100 per cent until the end.
"Until it's mathematically impossible, I will not rule us out. We know it will be hard, I am a realist too,l but I think we need three wins on the bounce and then things will start to change."
Remi Garde's side host fellow-relegation strugglers Norwich on Saturday, the Canaries currently lie fourth from bottom ahead of north east duo Sunderland and Newcastle.
"Norwich is next up, a tough game at the weekend, and if we get three points there it will be a nice start," added Richards, who was linked with Sunderland in the January transfer window.
