Callum Robinson has signed a permanent three-year deal at Preston.

The former North End loanee turned down the offer of a new contract with Aston Villa to join the Lilywhites, who have agreed an undisclosed compensation package with the Midlands club, due to him being under the age of 24.

The 21-year-old, who has had three previous spells with Preston during which he has scored four times in 31 appearances, is the sixth summer recruit by manager Simon Grayson to his squad.

Speaking about the move, the former England U20 international told the club's website: "I'm really happy to get the deal done. I've had a few loans here and I've really enjoyed my time with the lads and the coaching staff.

"It was obviously a big decision for me leaving Aston Villa.

"I've been there since I was eight-years-old, but if there was ever a club for me to settle down with and sign permanently with, it would be Preston North End."

Grayson added: "In Callum we think we have a young, hungry player who we can develop. He's not the finished article yet but he knows what he needs to do to get better.

"He's a versatile player, he can play on either side, he can play off the striker, so again he is another addition to the squad that can help us in the Championship this year.

"He's got plenty of work in front of him and the important thing is that he wants to do that, he wants to learn, wants to improve and that's what we look in to when we are recruiting new players."
