Aberdeen winger Niall McGinn says he has “no regrets” over his brief move to South Korea last year as he prepares to face Celtic on Sunday.
The 30-year-old scored 68 goals in 223 appearances during his first spell at the Dons before leaving the club for Gwangju FC in the K-League Classic last summer.
McGinn became the first player from the United Kingdom to play in South Korea but his stay in Asia was short-lived and he returned to Pittodrie on January 1.
The Northern Ireland international has scored two goals in seven appearances since his return but, ahead of his side's clash with Celtic on Sunday, live on Sky Sports, McGinn said he is glad he took the opportunity to move abroad.
"The move to South Korea came out of the blue," McGinn said. "I was enjoying my downtime after leaving Aberdeen last summer and Gwangju FC contacted my agent and it went from there. I took my time and just went for it.
"The players out there are physically strong and fit. The team which won the league [Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors] had four players in the national team. They also have a lot of Brazilians in the league and the standard is high.
"It was a decision I made that I don't regret. It was a good experience. It's very westernised. The food is good and I had an interpreter assigned to me all the time. I like the culture there. In fact, he came to see me a couple of weeks ago when he was on a tour of Europe and he took in the game against Hamilton and saw me score.
"I definitely have no regrets. The opportunity arose and I just went for it. I would have regretted not taking the chance."
