Ipswich have signed Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah on a season long loan.

The 18 year-old, who is the younger brother of Watford's Nathaniel Chalobah, becomes Ipswich's first signing of the summer.

Chalobah hasn't made an appearance for Chelsea's first team, however, Antonio Conte named the youngster on the bench for the FA Cup final win over Manchester United in May.

Ipswich boss Paul Hurst believes the youngster has something to prove at Portman Road. He said: "He's very comfortable on the ball, and he's a very good player.

"He's at an age where people might question him as he's a bit young. There will be demands put on him that he might not have encountered in the past but from speaking to him I know he's hungry to succeed.

"I like players who maybe have a little bit of something to prove and in Trevoh's case, he's got a lot to prove. There's a lot of good publicity around him in terms of potential but he understands, and he wants to go out and deliver."

Gareth Southgate also invited Chalobah to St. George's Park to train with the England senior side just before the team departed for the World Cup - he was brought in after the withdrawal of James Tarkowski, who was on standby for Russia.
