Former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has reacted to Brendan Rodgers' switch to Leicester with the cryptic message: "I told you".

The Lyon forward, who criticised Rodgers during his tumultuous transfer to the French club last summer, posted a series of tweets just hours after Rodgers completed his move to the King Power Stadium.

Replying to Sky Sports News' breaking news tweet, he said "interesting" before posting a meme of a surprised reaction, and then in reply to Celtic's confirmation he said: "And if you don't know now you know I told you."

Dembele took to Twitter about Rodgers last summer after a number of initial bids from Lyon were rejected by Celtic in August, posting an image containing the phrase: "A man without his word is nothing. A real man keeps his word."

According to Sky sources at the time, that message was aimed personally at Rodgers, who subsequently came out and said that Dembele conceded in a private meeting that nobody from Celtic made promises about him leaving the club.

The Frenchman eventually joined Lyon the next day for £19.7m and Rodgers later admitted he had to sign three new forwards to replace the hitman who scored 51 goals across just over two seasons at Parkhead.

Rodgers has succeeded Claude Puel at Leicester on a three-year deal until 2022, and has been replaced at Celtic by former boss Neil Lennon on an interim basis until the end of the season.
