Paul Pogba's reaction to fans who shouted abuse at him as he left the Old Trafford pitch following Man Utd's 2-0 defeat to Cardiff.

Paul Pogba was pelted with insults from a number of Manchester United fans as he left the field following their dismal final day defeat at home to relegated Cardiff.

The France midfielder shrugged his shoulders and gave supporters a thumbs-up as he was told he was "f*****g s**t" and should "show some respect" after United lost 2-0 and finished sixth in the Premier League table.

The insults are clearly audible in several videos posted on social media after the match, in which two Nathaniel Mendez-Laing goals downed United.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted he was "embarrassed" to be clapped by the supporters at the final whistle, after weeks of poor performances ended their hopes of finishing in a Champions League place.

United, who expect to be busy in the summer transfer market, won just two of their final nine Premier League games of the season.

Although Solskjaer has said he expects Pogba to stay at Old Trafford, his future is uncertain and he is a target for Real Madrid, having been criticised at times for his performances under both Solskjaer and previous manager Jose Mourinho.

After United were humbled at home by rivals City several weeks ago, Roy Keane told Sky Sports: "He's a mature player, he's played in big competitions, he's won big trophies, but I don't think he leads by example from what I see."

Pogba has, however, recently expressed remorse at the standard of United's performance, telling Sky Sports after defeat to Everton that their performance was "disrespectful". He said: "We didn't respect ourselves, the club or the fans."
