Stockdale rewarded for this season's form

Darlington have rewarded goalkeeper David Stockdale for his fine form this season with a contract extension. Stockdale has started 11 games in League Two this term, keeping eight clean sheets in the process, prompting the offer of a new deal. His previous contract was due to expire at the end of the campaign and Darlington boss Dave Penney feels the keeper merits his fresh terms. "He signed for a year during the summer and as a reward for what he has done this season we pulled him in, had a chat and given him a new deal," Penney told the club's official website. "He has deserved it. We didn't expect him to play as many games as he has done. "Our thoughts at the start of the season were to send him out on loan, but he has been excellent and has deserved the reward of a new contract." Meanwhile, Scottish striker Ian Harty, who joined in the summer, has left the Quakers after making just two substitute appearances.
