McAllister wields the Elland Road axe

Leeds United manager Gary McAllister has been wielding the axe after six youngsters were told they have no futures at the club. Gavin Rothery and Simon Madden's contracts have been paid up so the duo, who have already spent time on trial at with Cheltenham, are free to find new clubs. Rothery failed to make a single first-team appearance for Leeds, while Madden's only appearance came in The Whites' 2-1 home defeat to Bury in the St Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Academy scholars Chris Fisher, Stefan Connor, Duane Grace and Jason Mycoe have all been informed they will not be offered professional contracts with the club.
