Defender waiting to see if he is needed beyond the New Year

Trent McClenahan is keen to secure an extended contract at Scunthorpe United after finally making his debut for the club. The Australian defender joined the Iron in August after leaving Hamilton and has had to wait for his chance to make an impact. He made his belated debut as a substitute in last Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Derby County and could start against Coventry City this weekend following an injury to Michael Raynes. McClenahan's current deal at Glanford Park expires in January and he is determined to prove he merits an extension from manager Ian Baraclough. "My deal here is until January, so I don't really know what's happening from there yet," McClenahan told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "It's just a matter of waiting and seeing. "I've enjoyed my time here and they are a great bunch of boys. I think the club can do well in this league, so I would definitely like to stay."
