Defender pens two-year deal at McDiarmid Park

St Johnstone have completed their fifth signing of the summer after David McCracken put pen to paper on a two-year contract. The former Scotland Under 21 defender was released by Brentford at the end of last season after only making two appearances and ending the campaign on loan with Bristol Rovers. McCracken spent seven years at Tannadice before trying his luck south of the border with Wycombe in 2007, working under Paul Lambert. He was a key figure as the Chairboys gained promotion to League One, and was named in the League Two team of the season in 2008/09. The following season he moved to MK Dons and a year later left for Brentford, a move that failed to work out. McCracken joins David Robertson, Callum Davidson, Frazer Wright and Sean Higgins as newcomers at McDiarmid Park ahead of the 2011-12 campaign.
