Turner's team needs time to gel

Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner believes it will be late August before his revamped side starts to show its true potential.

Turner has brought in six summer signings and let go of 10 old faces after Town's failed promotion bid last term, with the club's disappointing failure in the play-offs following their heartbreaking fourth-placed finish. The likes of Matt Richards, Reuben Hazell and Marvin Morgan have come in, while Matt Harrold, Kevin McIntyre and Craig Disley head the list of those who have left the Greenhous Meadow. And while Turner insists his team is raring to go for Saturday's season opener at home to Plymouth, he feels it may take a month or so before they reach top gear. "They have shown they are capable players, they have shown that they are capable of fitting into a team plan," he told the Shropshire Star. "I think it will take another five or six games for them to really get the understanding with each other and it's the same with fitness."
