German ruled out until Christmas after knee surgery

Schalke midfielder Peer Kluge will be sidelined until January with a knee injury, the Bundesliga club have confirmed. The German has already undergone surgery on his knee after sustaining a meniscus problem. Schalke general manager Horst Heldt says the 30-year-old will be out until after Christmas as he recovers. He told Deutsche Presseagentur: "Peer Kluge has sustained an injury and has had surgery. "He will be out until Christmas and is unable to play further matches for us until then." Kluge was a first-team regular for Schalke last season but has only made three appearances this term. The midfielder, who joined the club from German rivals Nurnberg last January, is contracted at the Veltins-Arena until June 2013.
