Absentees hurt Preston - Brown

Phil Brown says his "work was cut out" even before Preston's game with Stevenage after several late withdrawals.

Paul Coutts (tooth abscess), Jamie Proctor (groin) and Ian Ashbee (knee) pulled out of the Deepdale stalemate. To make matters worse, Graham Alexander pulled a hamstring in the first five minutes, while Paul Parry was feeling the effects of a back spasm and was withdrawn at half-time. Brown told the club's official website: "We had all of our adversities before the game with the list of injuries we have picked up. "On a Saturday morning before a game I have known one player come in and say they have had a bad night but not three or four. "Consequently, I had my work cut out before the game and I had to make changes."
