Middlesbrough have signed defender Fernando Amorebieta on loan from Sky Bet Championship rivals Fulham for the rest of the season.
The 30-year-old played under Boro boss Aitor Karanka at Atletico Madrid and the deal to take him to Teesside sees full-back James Husband go in the opposite direction on loan until May.
Amorebieta, 30, spent four months on the sidelines with a knee injury and returned against Bournemouth on March 6, only to be sent off in the 5-1 home defeat.
He brings experience to Karanka's defensive options which have been hit by injuries to Jonathan Woodgate and Daniel Ayala.
Husband joined Boro from Doncaster last summer but has been used sparingly in the first-team and has only made two appearances since November.
